Description

PALO ALTO, CA — Palo Alto has moved to outsource an auditor role that's traditionally been filled by a city staffer, Palo Alto Weekly reports. The city is preparing to approve a 21-month contract with a Baker Tilly at a cost to taxpayers of up to $750,000 a year, the report said. The proposed contract would pay a pro-rated $550,000 for the first year and includes a renewal option for the third year. The council will vote on the deal Sept. 28, the report said. If approved, the city would be farming out a role that's been held in-house since it was created in 1983, the report said. Palo Alto hasn't had a full-time auditor since Harriet Richardson's departure in February of last year according to the report. Read more at Palo Alto Weekly
