I ran into you at a bus stop and you told me how you were the neighborhood’s Guardian Angel, a protector recognized by clergy, judges and all walks of citizenry. It’s a shame that the City Planning Department is creating a long term plan for Oakland without consulting you- especially after all your tireless years of service. I’d like to touch base and make sure your voice can be heard at the public hearings for the Oakland plan. At the very least, you deserve a full time paid position and a support staff. People also ignore your wisdom- usually they never hear more than “Excuse me sir..” before they’re gone. Maybe DOMI could install checkpoint booths on the sidewalk that wouldn’t let people through until you spoke your blessing to them? You may not be the Guardian Angel Oakland asked for, but you’re certainly the Guardian Angel it deserves!
