This is a repost that was user flagged thrice in 3 days. I appreciate the email I got from 1 person a Mr. L.R. whom got to read it before it was flagged. In the email he called me a commie bastard! If speaking my opinion based on the actual facts as I see them makes me a commie in your world, ok, I can live with that. When I registered to vote and then did so in 1992, the volunteer poll worker would ask me my name, I told them, they quickly looked through their rolodex, checked off my name, then handed me a ballot, and I voted. When Ga. passed our voter ID law in 2006 a lot of people said that was to keep minority people from voting!!!! Ok, it was to some extent. I want to argue that most white old and young politicians back then, 15 years ago, were racist, and wanted to do anything they legally could to keep those "minorities" from voting. And they foolishly believed requiring a valid ID was the way to do it. Just for the record I support requiring a valid ID to vote, it makes sense in modern times a poll worker can scan our driver's license and we get 1 vote. The reason why Ga. requiring a valid ID to vote starting in 2006 was simply based on the fact that as an adult, we have to have a valid in date ID to make it through life. Republicans were counting on those minorities not having a driver's license. They were wrong. Most people need a driver's license to drive. And once we drive to the bank or liquor store we need a valid ID to do business there. So that blew up the democrats claims requiring voter ID would directly effect minority voters disproportionally. The funny thing was among minorities their voter registration went up in Ga. in 2008 and 2010 more than other groups. Of course we have to greatly factor in Barack Obama was running for president in 2008, but why 2010? Why, because it seems every time old white conservatives pass more voting laws, more young minorities decide to register to vote. The funny thing here is all new voter laws since 1965 have affected all voters the same regardless of party. We all know in 2016 republicans in Ga refused to expand Absentee voting because they believed it would have benefited minorities more. That wasn't true, all voting laws effect all voters the same. We know in 2020 Absentee voting was greatly expanded by those same republicans, because they knew in spite of all the misinformation from the White House, the Pandemic was NOT a Hoax, so a lot of older white conservative Georgia voters did not want to go vote in person. In mid 2020 what our republican state representatives starting with Gov Kemp did not count on was 2 weeks after they expanded Absentee voting, was that President Trump would tell his supporters "do not vote by mail, voting by mail will be full of fraud!" Wow, Trump just never knew when to stop lying and shut up! It is well documented that the campaign speech President Trump gave in Dalton Ga on Jan 4, 2021 cost Loeffler and Purdue their re-elections. But yet Purdue still kisses Trump Butt. Because of our 2006 secure voter (integrity) ID laws including Absentee Ballots, we know the 2020 election was as accurate as we could hope for. Because every person that voted in person had their DL scanned, and every person that requested an Absentee Ballot had a bar code, it was impossible for anyone to use the same ID in Ga to vote twice. Because of that we know every single thing Trump said about the election being stolen from him in Ga has been proven false, over and over in several states. Don't believe me? Then listen to President Trumps Jan 2, 2021 phone call to Raffensperger, and then read Raffensperger's 10 page letter to Congress! But yet republicans continue to contest what was fairly lost, they continue passing laws they believe will only effect the other side. What they have accomplished is energizing the other side!!!! I'm not looking forward to Abrams being our governor, but I'm willing to bet any one $650 that right now more religious minority people per capita are registering to vote than crazy Rebel Flag waving Trump supporters.
