WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Anna Eshoo D-Palo Alto announced Tuesday that she has tested negative for COVID-19. Eshoo said last week that she was self-quarantining after possible exposure to the coronavirus after a staffer tested positive. The 78-year-old congresswoman represents parts of San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. "(Monday) evening I was informed that I tested negative for COVID-19 following a potential exposure to the virus last week," Eshoo said in a statement. "Per CDC guidelines and in consultation with the Office of the Attending Physician, I'm eligible to end my period of quarantine tomorrow. My thanks to the many constituents for their kind messages of support in recent days." Eshoo has served in Congress since 1992. In 2019 Eshoo was elected by her congressional colleagues as the first woman ever to serve as Chair of the Health Subcommittee. She has served on the House Energy and Commerce Committee since 1995. Eshoo helped draft portions of the Affordable Care Act.
