PITTSBURGH, PA - The Port Authority is reducing bus and light rail service by about 25 percent Wednesday due to a dramatic ridership drop caused by the coronavirus outbreak. Ridership has plummeted by more than 50 percent in the past two weeks.
The authority has been working in tandem with the region's health care providers to ensure that service will remain available for people who work in essential jobs or who need to access essential services. Because of the steep ridership decrease, riders will be able to practice social distancing.
The changes are for weekday service only. Weekend service remains the same.
The service reductions are occurring on 72 of the authority's 96 routes. These routes will maintain regular schedules:
