Description

PITTSBURGH, PA — The city is closing Reservoir Drive in Highland Park to all non-emergency vehicles beginning Thursday to enable greater space for outdoor recreation amid the coronavirus outbreak. The decision was made in conjunction with Bike Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. "After months of being forced inside by the pandemic, we know Pittsburgh residents are desperate to spend more time outdoors, safely and with ample space for social distancing," Mayor William Peduto said in a release. "I want to thank all our partners for their patience in making this exciting project happen." The main entrance to the park from North Highland Avenue will be used as a one-way circular drop off. ADA parking is available in the parking lot at the end of Farmhouse Drive. Barricades are staggered to allow for access by emergency and Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority vehicles. Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 will regularly patrol the area and enforce proper usage. Map via City of Pittsburgh.
