Description
This employee is a mechanically adept handyman or craftsman demonstrating professionalism and adhering to the highest standards of his/her trade or profession. The employee is a self-motivated problem solver, highly organized, punctual, appearance is neat and tidy, and maintains a clean workspace. When necessary, the employee can be self-directing and works equally well alone or as part of a team. At all times, the employee strives to maintain positive relationships with others. The employee is physically fit, able to keep his or her balance on moving objects (e.g. floating docks and boats), work on ladders at nominal heights, correctly lift moderately heavy objects (e.g. building materials and tools), and walk a fair distance each day while carrying a load. -Purchase materials and supplies and turn in receipts to the accounting department. -Pickup or drop off material or supplies. -Run errands, make deliveries, and transport material and supplies. -Load and unload material by hand, forklift, or other assistive equipment. -Assist the Preservation Craftsman with construction and rehabilitation projects. -Take vehicles for maintenance including oil changes, tire rotation, brake service, alignments, repairs, etc. Perform minor vehicle maintenance. -Hand and power wash vehicles and equipment. Wax and detail fleet and historic vehicles. -Remove snow by hand or using snowblowers, light-duty tractors, and (if employee is qualified) heavy equipment. -Service and maintain yard sprinkler, drip, and irrigation systems. -Strip, stain and/or paint walls, trim, building interiors and exteriors, woodwork, metalwork, and equipment. -Move furniture, material, and equipment. -Wash window and other glass. -Organize and maintain material, supplies, and tools. -Perform heavy cleaning tasks: equipment, garages, storage spaces, etc. -Perform household maintenance tasks including small electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair tasks. -Collect, haul, dispose of trash and recyclables. -Perform light construction and carpentry duties: repair broken furniture, build bookshelves, remove and install wood paneling, etc. -Control indoor and outdoor rodents and pests. -Coat or seal decks, driveways, walkways, masonry, and other flat surfaces. -Perform yard work and landscaping tasks: remove yard debris, limb trees, cut branches, trim hedges, mow and edge lawns, weed gardens, and transplant trees. -Assist in restoration efforts of vintage equipment, vehicles, furniture, structures, and machinery. -Other duties as assigned. -Authorized to work in the U.S. -High School diploma or equivalent -Undergo a background check in accordance with local law and regulations. -Able to reliably commute to work
