Description

Hello, Are you a calm loving person without kids who would be willing to take in a 10 pound Chihuahua? She is house trained and up to date on all shots, but she now has behavioral issues we haven’t been able to improve; thus causing a daily struggle and lots of stress and tears over trying to get her on a harness to go outside. She can be pretty testy/snappy with being picked up or touched when she’s not in the mood for it. We believe she is in need of a home with a fenced yard so she won’t require a harness or leash to be put on daily to go potty. She doesn’t get along with small kids/toddlers. She does get along with other dogs that aren’t dominant/too playful. Usually smaller dogs, not so much big hyperactive dogs at all. Due to a recent move & new full time work schedule for myself and my spouse; our chihuahua has developed a strong fear & aversion to being put in her harness to be taken outside. The vet has stated she has no health issues and we’ve tried anxiety medication. Our new apartment is in a busy area with a lot of loud trucks passing by, and we don’t have a fenced in yard for her to use. She has to be in a harness to go out, but she absolutely refuses to be put on a harness collar or leash now. She gets defensive and irate, fearful at the sight of the leash/harness and runs away or she snaps and shrieks shows teeth and freaks out like she’s being killed at anyone trying to touch her to try to harness or leash her. Even just a finger touching her in this moment causes her to lash out. She wants to be left to just hold her potty or taken out with nothing on her body- which would require a yard. We can’t afford special training and we both work full time now as well, which only seems to add to her behavior issues. She just has not adjusted to this last move to this busy area at all in the past 6 months. We can’t provide what she needs- a home with a quiet yard and a person near her most of the day. We have loved and cared for her for 6 years, but she has become unmanageable and totally resistant to us now. She is up-to-date on all her shots. We believe she would do better in a home with a fenced yard, maybe other small dogs. We want her to be taken care of by someone with the ability to give her what we can’t. She deserves love and a home with the adequate accommodations to let her be herself and live a good life without these daily traumatic dramatic struggles happening over something that used to be so simple for her. Please let me know if you would be able to help.
