Job Summary The Mountain Research Station in Nederland, CO is seeking applicants for the Janitorial and Grounds Maintenance position! This position will assist with day-to-day operations of the MRS with a focus on janitorial and grounds maintenance. Duties include, but are not limited to general cleaning of MRS facilities, upkeep and maintenance of building and grounds, administrative support, and occasionally assisting in the dining hall. Successful applicants will be comfortable using basic tools for cleaning and maintenance, and will be able to work independently as well as part of a team. This position will begin mid-May and continue through late August 2022. Who We Are Located at 9500 feet in the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies, the Mountain Research Station (MRS) is an interdisciplinary facility of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (University of Colorado) providing research and educational opportunities for scientists, students, and the general public. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Janitorial: Cleaning of cabins, lodge, and bathrooms. Vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, taking out the trash/recycling/compost, etc. Grounds maintenance: Upkeep and maintenance of buildings and grounds, raking, hauling brush, fire mitigation, painting, staining, assist with construction, etc. Office and misc work: Assist in office duties, including bookstore operation, answering phones, scanning/copies/etc, run errands to support station and research activities, occasionally assist dining hall staff with kitchen prep and serving duties. What You Should Know This position will work fully onsite at the MRS, located about 15 minutes north of the Town of Nederland. Candidates must have reliable transportation and punctuality is essential. Schedule: Typical hours will be 8am-4:30pm, Monday thru Friday (approximately 30-40 hours per week). Some weekend hours may be necessary depending on number of guests and scheduled events. All employees are required to follow current CU Health guidelines, including while working onsite at the MRS. All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment. What We Can Offer Compensation: $17-$22 per hour. What We Require Prior cleaning experience with attention to detail. Safety conscious, uses good judgment, and uses appropriate personal protective equipment during work activities. What You Will Need Independent worker with ability to manage time with minimal direction. What We Would Like You to Have Professional cleaning experience preferred. Ability to provide quality cleaning for lodging and bath facilities. Hands on skills for grounds and building maintenance. Comfortable using basic power and hand tools. Comfortable and enjoys supporting and talking to guests and researchers who are housed at the Mountain Research Station.
