EAST DEER, PA — An infant overdosed on heroin while the woman who was supposed to be watching her took a nap. Emergency responders revived the nine-month-old girl with Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal drug, but she remains hospitalized. According to police, Sara Tate, 32, told her daughter, 12, and sister-in-law, 10, to watch the baby girl while she went to sleep.. Shortly thereafter, the girls discovered a stamp bag in the infant's mouth. They took it to Tate, whom police said flushed it down a toilet. It's unclear who in the home called 911 to report the emergency. Tate is charged with aggravated assault, child endangerment, tampering with evidence and drug possession. She currently is housed in the Allegheny County Jail. Comments
