NASHVILLE, TN — A suspect has been arrested in connection with last week's fatal shooting of a Butler County native and nurse working in Nashville. Devaunte Lewis Hill, 21, was arrested Friday morning in his apartment. He faces criminal homicide and other charges in the death of Caitlyn Kaufman, 26, who was shot on a Tennessee interstate while driving to work for her nursing shift. Kaufman was a native of Chicora, Butler County, about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh. Police did not provide a motive for the slaying. They said a tipster provided them with information linking Hill to the crime. "I have a gamut of emotions right now but I'm so relieved," Kaufman's mother, Diane Kaufman, told The Tennessean by phone late Friday morning. "A part of me is so relieved they got him. I just get chills every time I think about it." Police said Kaufman was on her way to her shift at St. Thomas West Hospital when shots were fired into her Mazda CX-5 SUV. The vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder of the road against the guard rail. A police officer stopped to check on it several hours after Kaufman is believed to have been shot.
