Description
PITTSBURGH, PA - After nine months of an endless stream of coronavirus-related suffering, death and despair, light at the end of a terrible tunnel finally arrived in Pittsburgh this week.
It came in the form of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine, which entered UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in a nondescript UPS truck on Monday morning. A short time later, the first UPMC workers received the first vaccination shots in the city.
It will be months before a majority of those who want the vaccine locally will be able to receive it, of course. But this was a rare uplifting moment in 2020, an indicator that 2021 likely won't be as bad as the year that most Americans will remember as the worst - or among the worst - of their lives.
