We talked about how years ago we both had dated people we'd met via missed connections and how it hadn't worked out, how unnecessarily on-the-nose our respective breakups were. We found it disappointing that this weird anonymous source of catharsis and city stories was mostly a ghost town now. This isn't really a missed connection either, just a sentiment that I'm not sure how to say without making it weird, a feeling that belongs maybe not on missed connections as it is now so much as in rememberance of missed connections as they once were. It's been so long since I've gotten into a conversation with a relative stranger and looked up to realize that we've stayed past closing--a small stupid slice of normal before-2020 life I hadn't thought to miss. Thanks for that.
