Job Summary The Mountain Research Station in Nederland, CO is seeking an Assistant Cook for our PM shift! Under the direction of the Kitchen Lead, the Assistant Cook will prepare, cook, serve, and clean-up meals. This position works often with only the kitchen lead to perform all kitchen activities. A willingness to participate in the full process from start to final clean-up and the ability to work at a fast pace to meet serving time windows is essential to success. All meals are scheduled and typically serve 20-50 people. The Position will begin early June and continue through September 2022. Who We Are Located at 9500 feet in the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies, the Mountain Research Station (MRS) is an interdisciplinary facility of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (University of Colorado) providing research and educational opportunities for scientists, students, and the general public. What You Should Know This position will work fully onsite at the MRS, located about 15 minutes north of the Town of Nederland. Candidates must have reliable transportation and punctuality is essential. All employees are required to follow current CU Health guidelines, including while working onsite at the MRS. Schedule: June 12th through August 14th, 2022, hours will be approximately 30-40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 2pm-8pm, Sat-Sun 2pm-8pm. Some weekends will have no hours, some weekends more hours, so flexibility is required. Prior to June 12th hours will be minimal for prep work only. After August 14th schedule will only have occasional weekend hours. All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment. What We Can Offer Compensation: $17-$22 p/h. What We Require 6 months experience in a food preparation / cook position. Ability to work weekdays and weekends as needed. Actual hours will depend on guest numbers and dates and will vary throughout the summer. What You Will Need Ability to take directions and work well with others as well as work independently.
