New Afghans in Snohomish -- Join us for cultural orientation training so you can best be set for success in rebuilding your lives here! The American Muslim Empowerment Network at the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS-AMEN) is the official contractor with the State of WA to provide required cultural orientation training for Afghan arrivals under the Washington State Afghan Placement and Assistance (SAPA) program. We invite new Afghan arrivals to join us for an in-person training series to cover the important topics of cultural orientation. Learn the information, resources, and tools to help you succeed in building your new life in America! Please register to attend this series of sessions to learn about the following topics, and more: Role of the Washington State Afghan Placement and Assistance (SAPA) providers, and resources available to help new Afghans;Immigration status as humanitarian parole;U.S. laws and law enforcement; The new community;English language;Housing;Employment;Budget and personal finance;Safety;Hygiene;Cultural adjustment; andEducationThis training will be held at Everett Community College (or a different venue), taught in Dari (or Pashto as needed) by Afghan-American facilitators. It will take place on the following dates: Mon, March 28, 1:00pm to 5:00pm (check in at 12:30pm)Tues, March 29, 1:00pm to 5:00pm (check in at 12:30pm)Wed, March 30, 1:00pm to 5:00pm (check in at 12:30pm)Thur, March 31, 1:00pm to 5:00pm (check in at 12:30pm)Spots are limited. Attendees are expected to attend all sessions to complete the required cultural orientation training under the resettlement program, but if needed, can make up missed sessions through the next round of training. The series will also be offered one time after Ramadan, but this is your chance to sign up and complete this required training before the start of Ramadan!
