Nearly 68% Kendall Co. Vote-By-Mail Ballots Returned, Accepted

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — Almost 68 percent of all vote-by-mail ballots issued by the Kendall County Clerk's Office had been returned and accepted as of Monday, the clerk's office said in a news release. It reported that 14,349 of the 21,073 votes by mail ballots had been returned and accepted. The clerk's office said 4,337 vote-by-mail ballots remain outstanding as of Monday.Voters can still return their vote by mail ballots either by mail to the clerk's office at 111 W. Fox Street, Yorkville, but they must be posted marked no later than Nov. 3. Voters can also return their vote by mail ballots in person to a drop box located at the county office building at 111 W. Fox Street, Yorkville, up until 7 p.m. Nov. 3. According to the clerk's office, vote-by-mail ballots should not be returned to the voter's polling place on Election Day unless the voter wants to surrender their ballot and cast a regular ballot at their polling place. If voters choose to surrender and vote in person, they should allow for additional time at the polling location for the election authority to process their vote-by-mail ballot cancellation. County Clerk Debbie Gillette said that county voters can expect initial results from Tuesday's election to be posted online on the county clerk's website by 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. However, final results won't be known until Nov. 24, the date on which the county needs to certify the final ballot tallies with the state.
