OSWEGO, IL — A two-story building fire in Oswego Friday caused damages of $5,000, the Oswego Fire Protection District said. Firefighters responded to the multi-family apartment building in the 2000 block of Farmington Lakes Drive east of Douglas Road at 5:30 p.m. on a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, officers found fire on an exterior wall of one unit. With the assistance of the Oswego Police Department, the building was quickly evacuated. Fire companies extinguished the fire and the damage was kept to the exterior of the structure. The cause of the fire remains under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious in nature, according to the fire district. Firefighters from the Plainfield, Montgomery-Countryside, Sugar Grove and Bristol-Kendall fire protection districts provided assistance to Oswego firefighters.
