The ALS class teaches students about the disease itself, pain management, touch deprivation, and the importance of breathing.
The ALS class teaches students about the disease itself, pain management, touch deprivation, and the importance of breathing. There is a great focus given to working with contractures. Full body massage techniques are shown to provide not only circulation but also to help the client with painful spasms, stretching major joints, and muscle relaxation. This is a great class for those with ALS clients/patients as well as family members and caregivers. While these techniques can be used throughout the disease process, students/caregivers will be taught how to perform them with a bed-bound patient who is fully clothed. Please dress comfortably for this class and bring one sheet set, face cradle, and blanket. Massage tables and water provided. (6 CE hours for Massage Therapists. Christine Zaccanti NCBTMB #1000518).
