Fatal Hit-And-Run In La Quinta: Investigation Continues

LA QUINTA, CA — Sheriff's deputies were continuing Monday to investigate a hit-and-run crash that left a 50-year-old pedestrian dead in La Quinta. The collision occurred at around 7:15 p.m. Friday on Highway 111 west of Dune Palms Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The driver was traveling westbound on Highway 111 and struck the La Quinta man who was crossing the roadway, the department said. The pedestrian died at the scene. His name had not been released as of Monday morning. Authorities said the culprit left the scene before deputies could arrive and that no suspect or vehicle description could be determined because there were no witnesses to the collision.
