Jazz Series with Jive Bag & Dunlap High School Five Points Washington ALL AGES Jive Bag Dunlap High School Join us at the Live @ Five Points Event Center every 2nd Sunday of the month for a night of incredible, local jazz music. This month we welcome the Dunlap High School Jazz Band and Jive Bag for a full afternoon of jazz. Dunlap High School Jazz band is under the direction of Jason Shae. Jive Bag is a five-piece band that plays New Orleans-influenced funk and contemporary jazz. The instrumentation is the same as Papa Grows funk: drums, bass, rhythm guitar, Hammond organ, and saxophone. Other bands that influence the sound of Jive Bag include The Meters, the Neville Brothers, Dumpstaphunk, and more. Jive Bag plays feel-good and exciting music that is groove oriented. The music is primarily instrumental, and it includes many original compositions as well as familiar tunes. Jive Bag has opened for the famous New Orleans pianist Marcia Ball, played at the Betty Jayne Brimmer Center in Peoria Heights, Jazz UpFront in Bloomington and several venues in Champaign Urbana. The all-star lineup of the band includes Jonny Beckett - tenor saxophone and founder, Peter Roubal - guitar, Kurt Reeder - organ and keyboards, Josh Walden - electric bass, and Adiare “Petey” Thomas - drums. We will have a fully stocked bar, complete with drink specials and specialty cocktails from 2:30-3:00 pm and again following the high school's performance until 6:00 pm. Bottled water and soft drinks will be available throughout. 2:30 pm - Doors Open 3:00 pm - Dunlap High School Jazz Band Performance 4:00 pm - Main Stage Performance with Jive Bag Tickets are $5 each and provide access to both performances.
