Description

Come hear about invasive plant removal with expert Robbie Davis and help us remove them from the production fields at our new garden! Robert “Robbie” Davis, owner and founder of Native Plants Matter NC, is passionate about why we need native plants in abundance around us, and why invasive, often non-native species need to be removed. Many plants that look pretty, and some that don’t, will take over our landscapes, and don’t support our valuable native pollinators including many types of bees and moths that are declining in numbers due to lack of food and breeding sites. He’s spent years successfully and thoughtfully identifying and removing invasives with techniques that are effective and using few chemicals, only in limited ways (painted on stems or stumps). Help Sweet Peas grow by clearing and preparing the land for farming and gardening by learning and working with Robbie. For those who may not wish to do what can be somewhat strenuous removal, but want to meet Robbie, learn about him and the services he can do on other properties, a fee of $10 per person is requested to help cover his consultation costs at Sweet Peas. Saturday 4/16 9:30 am- 11 am, regular volunteers will likely continue until noon when we will enjoy a potluck meal together. https://www.nativeplantsmatternc.com/services This will be part of an ongoing series including other area native plant landscape specialists who have removed non-natives, and installed natives into a variety of urban settings with beautiful results. This is in support of Environmentally Focused Candidates running for elected offices in Wake County in 2022!
