Orland Township Will Hold Flu Shot Clinics This Fall

ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Township is providing residents with a variety of opportunities to receive their seasonal flu shot through walk-in clinics, according to a news release from the township. The clinics will distribute the vaccines every from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, beginning Sept. 2 through Oct. 28. They will take place at the Township office, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave. Flu shots will also be offered at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 9300 W. 167th St.; St. Francis of Assisi Church, 15050 Wolf Rd.; and St. Stephen Deacon & Martyr Church, 17500 84th Ave., according to the news release. Church clinics will only accept cash payments. Cash or credit is accepted at the township. The township will also host a drive-thru flu clinic Saturday, Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the township office, according to the news release. Those participating are asked to wear a short-sleeved shirt. "Orland Township is happy to be able to provide so many opportunities for residents to get their seasonal flu shot," township Supervisor Paul A. O'Grady said, adding, "I hope everyone takes advantage of our clinics to do their best to stay well during the upcoming flu season." According to the release, the following vaccines will be available at the township clinics: Fluzone Quadrivalent- $40 For individuals 3 years or olderProtects against four different types of flu virusesPreservation freeFlublok Quadrivalent- $40 For those 18 year of age or older100% egg-freeHighly purified and preservative freeThree times more antigens than traditional flu vaccineFluzone High-Dose - $55 For individuals 65 and olderPreservative freeThe township asks that participants bring proof of insurance when arriving, and that those with Medicare Advantage Plan or Retiree Plan may be able to submit the vaccine receipt for reimbursement, according to the release. Pneumonia vaccines will also be available for those ages 18 and older and vary in price from $100 to $195 dollars, depending on the vaccine the individual receives, according to the release. Insurance is not accepted for the pneumonia vaccine. Following CDC guidelines, the Township requires everyone to wear a face mask. The Township said to contact individual health care providers prior to attending to know which vaccine is best, according to the release.
