PACIFICA, CA — The mayors of two coastal San Mateo cities are asking non-residents stay away this Fourth of July, KPIX reports.
Pacifica Mayor Dierdre Martin and Half Moon Bay Mayor Adam Eisen are hoping to avoid a repeat of Memorial Day weekend, when out-of-towners packed their local streets and beaches, essentially eliminating the possibility of social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"We're asking people to kind of stay away this weekend," Martin told KPIX.
"We know that people congregating in large groups is one of the leading causes of the spread of the virus, and we want to make sure we're protecting our community."
