Carroll Cloar: A Life in Art
You might know American painter Carroll Cloar through his highly-regarded paintings My Father Was Big as a Tree, Hostile Butterflies, Where the Southern Cross the Yellow Dog, Halloween, and many more. A native of Earle, Arkansas, Cloar lived in Memphis until his death in 1993, when his ashes were scattered near his boyhood home and in the Gibson Bayou Cemetery.
Memphis filmmaker Willy Bearden's latest documentary, Carroll Cloar: A Life in Art, celebrates Cloar's work and will be screened in the Elmwood Cemetery Chapel on Tuesday, April 19th at 6:00 pm. Beverages will be served. Admission is $10.
