Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Train Monday In Natick

NATICK, MA - A woman who was struck by a commuter rail train early Monday afternoon has died, officials confirmed. Natick Police Chief James Hick said in a statement that the incident occurred round 11:33 a.m. close to 228 East Central St., about a quarter of a mile from the downtown train station. MBTA Transit Police Chief Richard Sullivan said she was suspected of trying to kill herself. Emergency workers originally called for a medical rescue helicopter. However, it was canceled before it landed. "We were about to transfer her when she went into cardiac arrest," Fire Chief Michael Lentini said "We decided to take her to MetroWest Medical [Center in Framingham Centre.]" The woman, whose identity is not being released, died at the hospital. The incident led to the Framingham/Worcester line being closed temporarily after the incident, causing delays later Monday afternoon.
