MEDFORD, MA — BioLife Plasma Services is bringing a plasma donation center to Medford. The facility, which opens Saturday, March 19, is BioLife's second in Massachusetts. Additional centers are set to open later this year to meet the growing demand across the country for medicines made from plasma. The center will bring up to 50 jobs to Medford, according to a statement from BioLife. It will also be all-electric, part of a sustainability initiative to reduce BioLife's environmental footprint. BioLife is part of global biopharmaceutical company Takeda and operates 170 plasma donation facilities in the United States. Donated plasma helps create therapies for hundreds of thousands of people living with chronic illnesses, for whom medicine developed from plasma is their only treatment option. BioLife Plasma Services will be located at 640 Fellsway.
