Flashing Traffic Beacon Set For Installation On Road In Trumbull

TRUMBULL, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation will begin installing a traffic beacon this month at the high-risk crosswalk on Route 108 by Nichols United Methodist Church in Trumbull, announced Trumbull Republican state Rep. David Rutigliano. The project involves the installation of Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons at high risk, uncontrolled, midblock crosswalk location; upgrading existing RRFBs to meet the latest American Disability Act Standard; and installing and revising curb ramps and associated sidewalk and pavement marking in Trumbull. Rutigliano said the project is scheduled to be completed by late-August. "Anything we can do to make it safer for the Nichols' area pedestrians to cross this very busy roadway is appreciated," Rutigliano said in a statement. As a result of the work, which began this week, Trumbull motorists can expect lane closures Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Lanes also will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be on hand when needed to guide motorists through the work zone. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
