Description
TRUMBULL, CT — Trumbull residents have until Friday to file an application to appeal their recent property tax assessment, according to First Selectman Vicki Tesoro.
"If you intend to appeal your new assessment you must file an application to appeal with the Tax Assessor's office no later than this Friday, March 18th, 2022," Tesoro wrote on Facebook (see below). "This application is available online or in the Tax Assessor's office in Town Hall."
Additionally, the application to appeal can be found by clicking on this link: https://www.trumbull-ct.gov/DocumentCenter/View/1172/Board-of-Assessment-Appeals-Form-PDF?fbclid=IwAR0NtLLvRqVeGf9YPUww6aJTIXJOzF6npV6jNeeT4iiAeTuAUpwhNG6pKjk
Petitions filed after Friday will not be accepted.
Earlier this month, Tesoro warned residents that many of them are facing the possibility of a tax increase due to the results of the recently completed revaluation, which saw a shift due to sharp increases in property values.
For those who file appeals, the Board of Assessment Appeals will hold hearings on April 5, 7, and 12; applicants will be notified with information about the hearing. Those who applied must appear at the hearing in person.
