Here are the top three stories in Roanoke today: Roanoke City Councilman Robert Jeffrey Jr. has forfeited his city council seat after entering a plea deal in his embezzlement case. He was accused of embezzling more than $100,000 and was facing more than 60 years behind bars. He was found guilty of one count of embezzlement. (WSLS 10)The Roanoke County Redistricting Committee has launched a new web-based mapping application for the community to provide feedback on redistricting efforts. A public hearing will be held on Mar. 22 to address adjustments to magisterial districts, precincts, and polling places. Comment can also be submitted by emailing the Board of Supervisors. (Press Release Desk )Charges against Aariqua Nicole Austin, 24, have been dropped after a key witness refused to testify. Austin was accused of seriously wounding a man with a firearm. The witness who refused to testify is the same man who Austin injured, according to case details.
