LEESBURG, VA — Leesburg Mayor Kelly Burk and the town council will host a vigil for Ukraine on Friday night. The event will be held on the Town Green on West Market Street at 7 p.m. Speakers will address the current situation in Ukraine, town officials said. There will also be a prayer, a moment of silence, and a performance of traditional Ukrainian music. "Cruelty is a horrible thing to witness. The on-going events in Ukraine display man's cruelty at its most deprived," Burk said. "It is so difficult not being able to directly help those in need." Throughout northern Virginia, many residents are finding ways to help. In Herndon, a pair of Ukrainian sisters have baked traditional cookies and hosted borscht-making classes. They've donated the money they raised to the World Central Kitchen.
