First Responders Parade Honors Phoenixville Hospital Workers

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Dozens of first responders paraded before Phoenixville Hospital Wednesday evening to honor healthcare workers on the front lines of coronavirus outbreak. The impressive showing featured fire trucks, patrol cruisers, and more, all blaring sirens to honor the sacrifices being made hourly by doctors, nurses, and other medical staff at the hospital. >>>Stay up-to-date on coronavirus developments — sign up for Patch news alerts All told, 20 local police, fire, and emergency agencies from the surrounding area took part in the display. "It was overdue to honor these Doctors and Nurses who are battling the pandemic that we all hope will soon end," Liberty Fire Co. of Spring City shared Wednesday. "The first responders cannot thank you enough for what you do. This was just a small way to show you." Many from the group also made a similar gesture at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Veterans Center in East Vincent just moments before. Participating teams included: Phoenixville Fire Department, Phoenixville Dive Team, Spring City Fire Department, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co., West End Fire Company #3 of Phoenixville, Kimberton Fire Co., Limerick Fire Department, Ridge Fire Company, Township of Upper Providence Department of Fire & Emergency Services, Phoenixville Police, East Vincent Twp Police Department, West Vincent Township Police Department, East Pikeland Township Police Department, West Pikeland Township Police Department, Spring City Police Department, Downingtown Police Department, Schuylkill Police Department, East Coventry Township Police, North Coventry Township Police Department. And on Monday, many local departments joined others around Montgomery County is sounding their sirens for five minutes at 7 p.m. in recognition of healthcare workers, grocery store workers, truck drivers, and other essential personnel that risk themselves daily to keep essential society functions running.
