Beautiful dog needs a new home

I'm looking for a new home for my sweet dog Dude. He's a mixed breed, and I'm not sure what the mix is. I've had him for 2 and a half years. I love him very much, but when he was a puppy, he broke his leg. He ended up spending months in a crate while his leg healed. It was that or lose the leg. During that time he developed a habit of pooping in his crate. Pretty frequently. I've tried to train it out of him, but to no avail. It's become a little bit of a health hazard with the little ones. He has never been aggressive towards me or the children, and there's for of them. He is so loving and kind. He loves giving cuddles and kisses. I'm too afraid to take him to the shelter. I would be devastated to find out that because of that, they'd put him down. He deserves a second chance. With the big family and how much I work. I havent been able to spend enough time trying to train it out of him. It would be $75 removing fee. He'll come with his old crate, his collar and leash and his dog bowl. I deserves so much, he just needs someone to help him in the right direction.
