ORLAND PARK, IL — The Consolidated High School District 230 board of education has gone in-house with their hire for director of guidance at Sandburg High School in Orland Park. The district named Michelle Augustyniak, a current Stagg High School administrator, to the post at a meeting earlier this week.
Augustyniak has been the division chair for physical education, health and driver education at Stagg since 2014, and in 2018 was the district's summer school coordinator.
"Michelle has demonstrated exceptional leadership as a member of the District 230 administrative team," Sandburg Principal Jen Tyrrell said. "She is an ethical leader that has a proven record of successfully working with all stakeholders."

At Stagg, Augustyniak "played a critical role as Stagg High School was selected by the National Council for Behavioral Health and Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation as one of the first eight schools in the nation to participate in the Teen Mental Health First Aid Program," a District 230 news release states.
"Her ability to lead change, tremendous work ethic, and relentless focus on facilitating student experiences that result in academic and social emotional growth will benefit the entire Sandburg community as she transitions into the Director of Guidance role," Tyrrell said. "She has the ability to develop and cultivate relationships with all stakeholders and is committed to setting high expectations for all students."
