ORLAND PARK, IL — The fight that took place at Orland Park's Sky Zone on Saturday night had more people there than initially reported, Mayor Keith Pekau said Monday morning. Per an investigation of the incident, the mayor said at least 842 people were in attendance, excluding staff members. The maximum capacity of Sky Zone pre-pandemic was 682 people, according to Pekau, who initially told Patch in a previous report, 260. The trampoline park, located at 66 Orland Square, Orland Park, was hosting a lock-in event when this incident occurred Saturday evening. Sky Zone may be facing consequences, such as a loss of their business license, according to the Village of Orland Park. Sky Zone was cited for a number of violations, including two for reckless conduct and one for a fire code occupancy violation, according to the village. Pekau said an investigation is still underway and that the number of people may increase as the investigation continues. Officers arrived on the scene Saturday night after hearing multiple reports of a fight at the facility. Upon arrival, police said they immediately took action to shut the event down. The police department told Patch Monday afternoon that three minors were arrested during an altercation in the parking lot. Police did not confirm if a D.U.I. occurred at the scene, as Pekau told Patch Sunday. Patch reached out to Sky Zone's across the country to ask if they are hosting these "lock-in" events. All locations contacted said that due to the pandemic they are not hosting these events, but they are hosting parties at limited capacity. Patch went to the Orland Park location, asking to speak with a representative. Sky Zone declined to comment. Patch also reached out to Sky Zone's corporate office, but they have not yet responded. The Orland Park Police Department said that the area is safe and there is no threat to the community. The village stated that reports about the incident circulating on social media were "disseminated" due to misinformation and "coupling" of incidents that occurred simultaneously in other municipalities.
