ORLAND PARK, IL — A Cook County grand jury has indicted a man police said is the suspect in an armed robbery in the parking lot of Norman's Cleaners, 8110 143rd St., in September. Police said the man is also linked to two other carjackings in nearby towns earlier this year. On Sept. 15, as a man was leaving Norman's, police said he was confronted by two men who demanded his car keys and searched him, stealing cash and a cell phone from his pockets. One of the men had a gun. The men were unable to start the man's vehicle and fled in the same vehicle they arrived in, which police said had previously been reported stolen. During their investigation, Orland Park police learned of two other armed carjackings: one in New Lenox on Aug. 16, and one in Mokena on Sept. 13. Armed Carjacking At Mokena Gas Station: Cops Carjacking At Gunpoint Reported In New Lenox: Police Police said they worked with both New Lenox and Mokena police departments, along with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). The investigation led them to Tyron Harris, 23, of Chicago. A stolen vehicle police said was used by Harris in the carjackings was recovered in Gary, Indiana. On Sept. 18, police said detectives found Harris in Gary, and arrested him while he awaited extradition back to Illinois on Sept. 30. According to police, Harris was taken to the Will County Jail with a current bond of $1.6 million from all three carjackings, including another incident that occurred in Monee. Police said Harris' indictment was delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions. On Dec. 17, detectives were granted the following charges: Armed Robbery Attempted Vehicular Hijacking Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon Theft All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
