DEARBORN, MI — A popular Dearborn golf course will be closed for the entire 2022 season due to the damage from last summer's storms, city officials said. Despite the best efforts from crews, the Dearborn Hills Golf Course isn't ready yet after many areas on the course suffered extensive flood damage from last June's historic flooding event in metro Detroit, city officials said. The golf course, on Telegraph near Michigan Avenue, already sits in a flood plain near the Rouge River, where logjams in the river was diverting water onto the course, city officials said. If the course was to open this year, officials would have had to blocked access to a significant portion of the course. The golf course lost 42 days last season due to flooding. While all reservation deposits will be refunded by officials, the banquet center at Dearborn Hills will be open through June. City officials also said there were no plans to sell the historic golf course, discouraging online rumors indicating it was a possibility. Crews will continue working through the summer cleaning up the golf course, as well as a long-term strategy to prevent logjams in the Rouge River.
