Police Plan Recruiting Event At Buckhead's Retail Epicenter

ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Police Department is looking for a few good recruits. Saturday, Atlanta Police are sponsoring a recruitment event at Lenox Square Mall and are asking for "dedicated, community-minded individuals" to come out and join their ranks. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the mall level outside of Pottery Barn, and attendees are asked to bring their valid driver's license. Police staff will be on-hand to answer questions about working with the department and help those seeking to join. It is also possible to apply online ahead of the event and learn more information about qualifying to become part of the department. Amid an increase in crime in Atlanta and across the nation in the past two years, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens has pledged to reduce criminal activity, particularly in Buckhead where street racing, auto break-ins, and violent crime has prompted a movement to secede from Atlanta and start a new city. Candidates who attend also can register to win a $250 Simon gift card that can be used at the Mall or at other Simon retail locations.
