IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION (IRCO) JOB OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION: Furniture Mover & Delivery Driver WAGE: $18,720-$20,800/year, 20 hours/week LOCATION: IRCO Main, 10301 NE Glisan St, Portland OR 97220 APPLY AT: [email protected] or learn more at www.irco.org STATUS: Part Time with Benefits PROGRAM(S): Admin, Refugee Resettlement & Placement REPORTS TO: Fundraising Manager CLOSING DATE: Open until filled REQUIREMENTS: Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination or request of accommodation maybe required GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for moving, loading, unloading and set-up of furniture and household goods during deliveries and pick-ups of donated and purchased items for new refugee arrivals in Portland. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Lifting heavy items such as furniture, household goods, clothing, boxes of supplies and more • Driving and parking a 16ft. box truck • Navigating the Portland metro area for pick-ups and deliveries • Packing, unpacking, and sorting items with organized intent • Collaborating with volunteers on projects JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination • 18 years old or older Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position as qualifying. This would typically include: • Able to work effectively with diverse people and inspire others to perform efficiently • Preference is for someone with lived experience as and/or who has strong ties to immigrant, refugee, and/or communities of color in Portland • Professional customer service required • Familiar with principles of non-profits, professional accountability, fundraising development a plus KNOWLEDGE: Education: High School or GED (1) Experience: No experience is required (1) Licensure, Certification: • Valid Oregon Driver’s License Additional Language Required: • N/A but multilingual is a plus! Computers: All positions at IRCO require use of a computer and experience working with Microsoft Products including but not limited to Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. SKILLS: Communication: Some interaction with those inside and outside the organization to exchange factual information (3) Creativity: Processes and procedures are well defined (1) EFFORT: Mental: Duties are mostly comprised of routine and repeated tasks (1) Physical: Positions at this level require moderate physical effort and manual labor such as carrying, constant movement, frequent lifting of light items, some lifting of moderately heavy objects. Driving is one of the MAJOR responsibilities (4) RESPONSIBILITY: Impact and Influence: Positions at this level have little to no need or ability to analyze problem or concepts or make decisions on the information. This role has little or no impact and influence on organization operations, programs, expense or budgetary outcomes (1) Work Independence: Positions at this level work under close supervision, usually function from a clear set of operating processes or procedures, and have work closely reviewed. Little to no judgment and decision-making is required. (1) Planning: Positions at this level have little to no planning responsibility beyond the need to schedule own work and determine impediments to own work schedule. (1) Supervision: Positions at this level are not responsible for any supervisory functions or responsibilities, but may occasionally be asked to orient and/or train new employees or volunteers. (1) WORKING CONDITIONS: Environment: There is some personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are somewhat uncomfortable due to varying work environments; outside job tasks; inclement weather; exposure to chemicals; electricity; or individuals of unpredictable, possibly harmful intent (4) Schedule: The work schedule occasionally fluctuates based on organization or customer needs. This fluctuation may occur with or without prior notice.
