Description
CHICAGO RIDGE, IL — A brawl that broke out among juveniles shut down the Chicago Ridge Mall for the remainder of the day Saturday afternoon, police said. Around 4:45 p.m., police said they responded to a disturbance at the mall's food court.
Police said a report of shots fired during the melee was not true. As a precaution, "a decision was made to shut down the mall for the remainder of the day," police said via Facebook.
Since 2015, the mall has had a youth supervision policy that requires anyone age 17 or younger to be supervised by a parent or adult over the age of 21 after 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. At the time, the company the policy was not related to previous incidents of fights involving juveniles at the mall, including a December 2014 fight caught on video that sent shoppers fleeing for the exits.
