OAK LAWN, IL — All of Advocate Health Care's Illinois hospitals are now providing first doses of COVID-19 vaccines to front line team members, a significant undertaking that will start to provide protection to the people who have worked for months to keep their communities safe and healthy. Vaccination of clinicians working in settings with COVID-19 began on Dec. 17 started distributing the vaccine at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Advocate Children's Hospital team members are receiving vaccinations on their campuses in Park Ridge and Oak Lawn. Advocate Aurora Health Executive Medical Director of Infectious Disease and Prevention Dr. Robert Citronberg received the vaccine in a show of his confidence in its safety. "We know that COVID makes people very sick, and you can die from it," Dr. Citronberg said. "The risks of getting sick from COVID-19 and dying from it far outweigh the risks of the vaccine." The vaccine will eventually be available to anyone who wants it.
