The City of Greeley Water Resources Division is looking to hire a Raw Water Operations Technician with an interest in municipal water in the West. The Raw Water Operations Technician in the non-potable water division operates and maintains non-potable pumping stations and the non-potable distribution system including starting up and shutting down the systems annually. This position also performs work on pumps, valves, sprinklers, takes same time-of-day readings of station meters, inspects and cleans ditches, assists system operators with routine maintenance, mows grass, maintains the pump station sites on a daily basis, and other related job duties. Experience, Knowledge, Skills: - Current driver's license with good driving record. - Ability to read and comprehend English and perform basic mathematical calculations. - Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment, lawn mowing and sprinklers desired. - Previous pump maintenance experience desired. Spanish/English bilingual desired, but no required. Essential Functions: - Measure distance using a tape measure or calibrated instruments. Operate machinery such as a riding lawn mower, a - tractor, or mower. - Move debris, dirt, and other material from one location to another using a shovel, rake, or other hand tools. - Learn job-related skills through oral or written instruction. Read information in English on a computer screen. - Interpret information on a computer screen and follow sequence of repair information. - Follow established safety practices and procedures. - Perform "on call" duties. - Be able to work weekends if needed. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: - Exposure to all weather conditions. - Exposure to various types of machinery noise, some levels to excess. Exposure to untreated water. - Work in small and/or cramped areas. - Manual dexterity enough to make precise and repetitive arm-hand position movements and maintain static balance while using hand and power tools. - Manual dexterity enough to work with small objects, i.e. placing washers on bolts. Repetitive or continual standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking over long periods of time. - Ability to climb ladders or steps to reach jobs. - Ability to move heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) long distances (20 feet or more) on a frequent basis. - Vision enough to perform above functions, read printed instructions. Conditions of Employment: Candidates must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings and employment eligibility verification. Pre-employment screenings include a drug test, a background and national sex offender search, a motor vehicle record search, and for some positions, a physical demands evaluation.
