Description
OAK FOREST, IL — The man who police say shot an Oak Forest police officer during an altercation over a stolen vehicle has been charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to Oak Forest Police.
The man, 30-year-old Shederick J. Ricks Jr., of South Holland, was charged by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office on Tuesday, according to police.
Police said Ricks allegedly shot the officer early Sunday morning after trying to break into a stolen Dodge Charger. The officer fired back, striking Ricks, according to police.
Ricks is still currently being treated for his injuries at an undisclosed area hospital, according to police. The officer injured was released from the hospital and is currently recovering from his injuries, police said.
Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.
