Starting as the solo act of Rick Maguire in the late 2000s, Pile has been a collective since the release of Magic Isn't Real in 2010. To date, Pile has released seven full-length albums. In recent years the band has gained increasing popularity, becoming a prominent part of the Boston indie rock scene and frequently touring through both the US and Europe. While remaining outside of the mainstream, the band has been repeatedly recognized for captivating a particularly enthusiastic and dedicated fan base. While the band is known for its dynamic and bombastic live performances, Maguire recontextualizes the material by performing on his own, something he has continued to do throughout the project’s history. 2021 saw documentation of this aspect of Pile in Songs Known Together, Alone, a solo re-imagining of 15 songs across Pile’s catalog. In 2022, Maguire will be performing across US and Canada to support the release Songs Known Together, Alone is available digitally as well as 2xLP via Exploding in Sound Records. Briana Marela : brianamarela.comBriana Marela Lizárraga is a mixed race Latinx composer, vocalist, and performing artist. Once again an unsigned independent artist she is currently working on a lot of new and unfinished songs as well as to finish a few albums of unreleased work. She is an Allied Arts Foundation Grant recipient as well as an AAUW Career Development Grant recipient. She has toured with artists such as Jenny Hval, Waxahatchee and has toured across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe. She has played such festivals as Sasquatch, Decibel, Noise Pop, and Green Man (UK). She has been interviewed by Vogue, Interview Magazine, and Billboard with reviews on Pitchfork for her most recent album releases. In 2018 she received a commission from Radiolab's More Perfect Podcast to write a song about the 4th amendment for their album celebrating the constitutional amendments.
