Live thoroughbred racing at "Chicago's Hometown Track" on Kentucky Derby Day. Hawthorne Race Course is proud to host the only live thoroughbred racing in the Chicagoland area, especially on the biggest day for the Sport of Kings: The Kentucky Derby. Capacity at "Chicago's Hometown Track" is currently limited due to construction of the new $400 Million Hawthorne Casino and Race Course. Reservations and parking passes are required except for bet-and-go services, which begin at 8AM. Doors open for ticket holders at 9AM, rain or shine. Reservations must be claimed by 2PM or seats will be forfeited without refund. For off-track wagering options, there are (16) Club Hawthorne betting parlors located throughout the Chicago suburbs and central Illinois.
