MARIN COUNTY, CA — The Marin County Sheriff's Office on Friday said it will be enforcing new parking restrictions targeting "non-essential motorized travel to parks and open space throughout unincorporated Marin County." The office said enforcement is due to people from around the region coming to the county for non-essential reasons. "More specifically, a multitude of visitors not practicing social distancing and crowding our trails, parks and neighborhoods, which puts the health and safety of our county at risk," the sheriff's office said in an announcement. The office said it began issuing warning citations more than a week ago and will now enforce an emergency parking resolution issued by the county director of Emergency Services that will carry a $100 fine for violators. "We caution all residents and visitors to recreate near their home, within your own neighborhood and utilize non-motorized means to access our parks and open space," the sheriff's office said.
