JERICHO, NY — A motorcyclist died Tuesday night after being hit by a suspected drunken driver on Jericho Turnpike, Nassau County police said.
Authorities only identified the victim who died in the crash as a 29-year-old man. According to police, the motorcyclist was heading west on Jericho Turnpike around 11:45 p.m., when he was struck by the suspected drunken driver, who was also traveling in the same direction. The driver reportedly did not remain at the scene and the motorcycle rider died.
The 30-year-old man driving the car that hit him has been identified as Jordan P. Solomon, 30, of Forest Hills. Solomon was arrested after officers located him and his disabled vehicle at the entrance of the Long Island Expressway, police said.
Solomon has been charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a fatality, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, and second-degree assault. He is scheduled to appear in Hempstead's First District Court on Wednesday.
