NEWTOWN, CT — With the upcoming retirement of Lorrie Rodrigue, Newtown is searching for a new Superintendent of Schools, and the Board of Education is seeking comments from parents and the community to help with the search. The district has retained the New England School Development Council to help with the search process for a new superintendent, and the group has launched an online survey to collect public input. The survey will be open through March 31. "The survey is designed to obtain participant input about the attributes, experience, and knowledge that the new superintendent should possess," officials wrote in a statement. "The survey also provides an opportunity for participants to identify immediate tasks which the new superintendent should address." To access the survey, click on this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3MVZ9N3 Rodrigue, a former Connecticut Principal of the Year, held the superintendent post for five years, reported the News-Times. Before joining the Newtown district, Rodrigue was principal at nearby Pomperaug High School. All comments from the online survey are considered anonymous, according to officials, and the council will organize responses by group (administrators, staff, parents, community members, students, etc.). The responses will be provided to the Board of Education in a community needs assessment report, which will be used to inform the Successful Candidate Profile. "The Newtown Board of Education appreciates the public's involvement in the Superintendent Search process and looks forward to hearing community members' views," officials said.
