Description
MCLEAN, VA — With a continuous need for blood donations at Inova Blood Donor Services, blood drives can help replenish supply. The McLean Volunteer Fire Department will host its next blood drive with Inova on Friday, March 25.
The blood drive will be held from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the McLean Fire Station's Lowell Avenue parking lot, 1455 Laughlin Avenue, McLean VA. The Inova Blood Donor Services bloodmobile will be in the lower parking low, accessible from Lowell Avenue.
Earlier this year, Inova said it was facing a blood shortage and immediately needed donations of all blood types. Inova typically needs 200 units of blood and blood components each day to support patients' needs. Each donation can help up to three patients.
It takes about an hour for a blood donation appointment. Photo ID and surgical face masks are required. Surgical face masks can be provided if needed. Donating blood is considered safe even during the COVID-19 pandemic due to safety measures to protect blood donors.
To make a blood donation, sign up online for an appointment, call 1-866-BLOODSAVES (1-866-256-6372) and use sponsor code 8507, or contact Eddie Hicks at 571-220-1227 or [email protected].
