Job description Job Summary: The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington’s Look Again Shop in Alexandria, VA seeks a part-time assistant retail shop manager, every other weekend to join our team. The position presents the opportunity to direct and coordinate activities of the retail store. Primary Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees and volunteers in accordance with organizational policies and applicable lawsPlans, assigns, and directs work to employees and volunteersConducts employee on-boarding and trainingParticipates in volunteer recruitment and training, as neededHandles complaints and problem resolutionWelcomes and assists customers/donors at storeResearches merchandise values and historyOther duties as assigned Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or higher2+ years experience in related position, or equivalent combination of education and experienceMust be available to work weekends (at least 2 weekends per month)Experience using computerized cash register and VISA charge machine (Square cash register)Supervising/Management experience (keyholder experience)Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsProficient analytical and mathematical skillsBasic reasoning and problem-solving skillsMust speak, read and write EnglishInterest in thrift, resale, or secondhand shopping Work Environment: Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, reach, push and carry items as needed.Typical retail store settingWill frequently be exposed to outdoor weather conditions16 hours - Saturday and Sunday / Every other weekend PLEASE NOTE: For the safety of our employees and clients, POB mandate the COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of employment.
