GREENWICH, CT — To celebrate March Madness this year, IN Greenwich has brought back their annual "IN Greenwich Madness" basketball bracket contest, and even added a second Sweet 16 bracket. In 2017 Greenwich Point Marketing business partners Craig Jones and Jessica Reid started IN Greenwich as a project to curate and promote events happening in Greenwich. In years past, the contest has been free to participants with many donated prizes from local businesses awarded throughout the tournament. This year, however, there is a suggested donation of $20 per bracket, which will go towards a GoFundMe campaign that will help provide direct funds to the people in Ukraine to purchase food, medical care, and emergency support services needed. The campaign was started by Dr. Inna Lazar, former Miss CT USA 2017 Olga Litvinenko and Sasha Glavatskaya, all from Greenwich. "We have always wanted to connect this contest with a fundraising effort and raising funds that will directly help people in Ukraine is the perfect fit," Jessica said in a news release. "The only thing that can add more excitement than both raising money and having a winning bracket is having your school/alma mater in the tournament. Go UCONN!" For larger donations, IN Greenwich is also offering March Madness Contest sponsorships that will include the sponsoring business in all publicity, an individual social posts and listing on their website. To join in on the fun, click here for the PickHoops bracket group called "IN Greenwich March Madness Contest." You'll be asked for your name and email address and to create a new user password for yourself. Then you'll be asked for the group password: INGreenwichMM. Bracket entries have already begun. Online bracket entry closes Thursday, March 17 at 12:15 p.m. You can also sign up for a second bracket contest, the Sweet Sixteen bracket, that opens on Monday, March 21 at 8 a.m. The idea for this March Madness Basketball Contest came to IN Greenwich co-founder Craig Jones a few years ago after the IN Greenwich elf and mensch, Vin and Bin, visited all over town in December. "The elf and mensch were so popular that I knew we wanted another entertaining campaign around springtime. March Madness was the perfect choice as most people already fill out brackets and this way there will be lots of chances to win," Jones said in a news release. Appropriately titled IN Greenwich, you can find and submit local events and activities in Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Riverside, Cos Cob, Glenville and Byram, CT on the IN Greenwich website and on their various social media channels including InstagramInstagram and a Facebook group.
